Machines for any type of cutting needs to be defined to get correct nestings with manufacturing information that is considering the capabilities and features of the machine. Furthermore, the nesting process is calculating time for different operations used in planning activities. These time calculations parameters are set-up when configuring the machine.
The machine configuration is done once, either when the software is implemented configuring the existing workshop machines or when a new machine is introduced in the workshop.
The machine configuration is built up by different parameters, possibly changed or detailed in different thickness intervals and in different profile type and profile height intervals if the machine is used to fabricate profiles. The picture below illustrates the layout:

Parameters are divided into four different categories:
-
Machine restrictions
-
General parameters
-
Estimation parameters
-
Post-Processor parameters
The machine configuration is kept in a XML file. A full description of the syntax and keywords can be found described in the section Set-Up.
