Publish Data to AVEVA™ Asset Information Management

You can publish the data from AVEVA™ Diagrams to AVEVA™ Asset Information Management through the user interface and through the command line.

This section describes the procedure to publish the data using the user interface. For information on how publish the data through the command line, see Publish Data from Command Line.

The following points must be noted about the output files (EIWM and SVG):

• The actual output for an export depends both on the classes selected in the configuration and the elements selected for publishing. Some examples are as follows:

  • If you have selected PIPE class in the configuration and selected a SITE element for publishing, all the PIPE elements present in the SITE are exported. In this case, the number of EIWM files generated is equal to the number of PIPEs in the SITE.

  • If you have selected PIPE class in the configuration and selected a PIPE element for publishing, then only the PIPE element is exported.

  • If you have selected SITE class in the configuration and selected a PIPE element for the publishing, there will not be any output.

• Similarly, the number of SVG files generated for an export also depends on your selection in the configuration. Some examples are as follows:

  • If you are publishing an EQUIP element and have chosen to generate an SVG file for it, then an EIWM file and an SVG file for the equipment are generated.

  • If you are publishing a SITE element and have chosen to generate an SVG file at the EQUIP level, then an EIWM and an SVG for each EQUIP element present in the SITE is generated.

To publish data to AVEVA™ Asset Information Management:

1. Do one of the following:

   • To publish a single element: On the Project Explorer, locate the element you want to publish, right-click and select Publish to AVEVA AIM.

   • To publish multiple elements: On the Tools tab, select Batch Job. On the Batch Job window, select the check boxes for the elements you want to publish and click Publish to AVEVA AIM.

   • To publish all elements of a drawing: Open the drawing for the element you want to publish, right-click anywhere on the drawing and select Publish to AVEVA AIM.

2. On the Select configuration dialog box, select the configurations using which the data element needs to be published.

   

   Note: The Select configuration dialog box displays the list of all available configurations. You can select more than one configuration for publishing data. However, you must make sure that the combination is valid and meaningful for the AVEVA™ Asset Information Management user. The configuration or configurations used for the last export is selected by default.

3. Click Publish. The Processing export configurations dialog box displays the status of the export process.

   

4. After the status is changed to Finished, you can verify the output files at the staging area location and the log files at the location specified by you.

   Note: If the staging area location is listed as a watch folder in Import Controller and the option to generate the trigger.start file is selected, then the output files are automatically imported to AVEVA™ Asset Information Management. Thereafter, the AVEVA™ Asset Information Management users can query and view the data.
