Selecting Output Format

You can specify the format for your output. Currently, XML (also known as EIWM), JSON, and CSV formats are supported for grids, DB views, drawings and datasheets. For reports, you can generate the report output in PDF, XLSX and CSV formats and the engineering output in XML (also known as EIWM), JSON, and CSV formats. Output is generated based on the mappings specified and the files are placed in the staging area for both formats.

To specify the output format for grids, DB Views, drawings and datasheets:

  1. Click the Grids, DB Views, Drawings or Datasheets tab depending on for what you want to specify the output format.

  2. Click Options.

  3. In the Engineering Output Format area, select the required output format:

    The following formats are supported:

    • None: Select this option if you do not want to generate an output file with the engineering data.

    • XML (EIWM): Selected by default, this option enables you to generate the output in the XML format (also known as EIWM).

    • JSON: Select this option if you want to generate the output in JSON format.

    • CSV: (Optional) Select this box if you want to generate the output in CSV format together with one of the above formats. If you have selected this option, do the following:

      1. From the Available Column names list, select a column name for the CSV file. The column name is added to the Column names area.

Note: The list displays column names generated from characteristics and properties defined in EIWM class mappings for all selected elements.

      2. Repeat the above step to add more column names.

      3. (Optional) After adding the required column names, you can rearrange their order by using the arrow keys.

      4. When Auto-append columns from context is enabled, gateway will automatically generate column names for all engineering data that is extracted based on specific context (Grid, Database view, drawing, and so on).

  4. In the Datasheets tab, additional Datasheet data sources options are available in the simplified mode. This option group gathers settings related with controlling output engineering information when publishing datasheets.

Note: This group is only available when configuration is not set to Advanced Mode.

Following options are part of datasheet data sources group:

    • Use database view sources: When checked, all datasheet referenced database views will be used to generate engineering information in the output. When unchecked, no database view will be used for generating engineering information. By default, this options is unchecked.

    • Include related engineering items: When checked, all engineering items referenced from within datasheet will be included in the output engineering information. When unchecked, only engineering items directly assigned to datasheet will be included in output engineering information. By default, this option is checked.

To specify the output format for reports:

  1. On the Reports tab, click Options.

  2. In the Report output format area, select the required output format for report data:

    The following formats are supported:

    • None: Select this option if you do not want to generate report data.

    • PDF: Selected by default, this option enables you to generate the output in the PDF format.

    • CSV: Select this option if you want to generate the output in the CSV format.

    • XLSX: Select this option if you want to generate the output in the XLSX format.

  3. In the Engineering output format area, select the required output format for engineering data:

    The following formats are supported:

    • None:Select this option if you do not want to generate an output file with the engineering data.

Note: To avoid overwriting the output files, the CSV option for engineering output format cannot be used together with the CSV option for report output format.

      1. From the Available Column names list, select a column for the CSV file. The column is added to the Column names area.

Note: The list displays column names generated from characteristics and properties defined in EIWM class mappings for all selected elements.

        1. Repeat the above step to add more column names.

        2. (Optional) After adding the required column names, you can rearrange their order by using the arrow keys.

        3. When Auto-append columns from context is enabled, gateway will automatically generate column names for all engineering data that is extracted based on specific context (Grid, Database view, drawing, and so on).

        Integration service output options

        1. Click the Grids or DB Views, tab depending on for what you want to specify the output format.

        2. In the Append units of measurement area, select the required option:

          The following options are available:

          • None: Select this option if you do not want to add any unit of measurement.

          • Column Headers: Select this option if you want to add Column Headers as unit of measurement.

          • Cell Values: Select this option if you want to add Cell Values as unit of measurement.
