tag

An elemental variable stored in a data source. A tag contains multiple values, each for a specific timestamp. Its values are all of the same specific type, such as analog, discrete, or string. A tag typically refers to an instrument or device in your plant, such as PumpMotorSpeed or PumpOutletFlowRate.
