entity

A modular, contextual representation of an industrial object (physical or virtual) and its relationships. Typically CONNECT entities represent assets or documents in the physical world, but can also represent business units or processes.

Entities are composed of discrete components derived from types (such as assets, pumps, documents), which are in turn defined as sets of properties. A windmill is an entity; the windmill's SOR and types are components. The windmill motor is also an entity with its own SOR and types.
