asset

The operational name of an entity class used to represent any level of physical equipment within a facility, without specificity to its individual or commercial properties.

Example: “Tank 1 Outlet Pump” would be the asset representation of an "ACME Model 12" pump with serial number 123789, the latter of which describe the actual physical equipment. A "Tank 1 Outlet Pump" asset has a operational flow rate no matter what model of pump is present, or the pump's specific instance.
