AVEVA™ Integration Service

AVEVA PRO/II Simulation

  • Last UpdatedNov 06, 2023
  • 3 minute read

The data from AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation can be viewed in AVEVAEngineering using AVEVA™ Integration Service (Service). For this, the simulation data (available in .xml and .dxf formats) must be saved to a pre-defined location that the Service user can access. The Service retrieves the data from this location which can then be viewed in AVEVAEngineering.

Data transfer from AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation to AVEVAEngineering is available from AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation 10.2.1 and later and AVEVAEngineering 15.1 Fix 5 and later using AVEVA™ Integration Service 1.6 or later. For transferring graphical data, AVEVA™ NET Gateway Configuration Tool 5.0.10 or later must be installed on the computer and a project that uses the AutoCAD 2D Gateway must be created. This project is used by the Service for converting .dxf files to .svg files. The installation location of the AVEVA™ NET Gateway Configuration Tool and the location of the AutoCAD 2D Gateway project file must be accessible to the Service user. The Service automatically detects the installation location of the AVEVA™ NET Gateway Configuration Tool and the default AutoCAD 2D project if the version of the AVEVA™ NET Gateway Configuration Tool is 5.0.11 or later. For more information about the default AutoCAD 2D project, refer to the AVEVA NET Gateway Configuration Tool User Guide.

Note: The setup needed to transfer the data from AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation to AVEVAEngineering involves multiple products such as AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation, AVEVAEngineering, AVEVA™ NET Gateway Configuration Tool and AVEVA™ Integration Service. Providing information about all these procedures is beyond the scope of this document. This document contains only the procedure to add a data source in the Service and perform basic tasks using Integration Client. For information about the setup needed in AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation, AVEVAEngineering and AVEVA™ NET Gateway Configuration Tool, refer to the respective user guides.

To add a AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation data source:

  1. Start Integration Settings Editor.

  2. From the Select Product list, select AVEVA PRO/II Simulation. The Module Name is displayed as AVEVA PRO/II Simulation.

  3. Click Add Configuration. The AVEVA PRO/II Simulation dialog box appears.

    Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

    Do the following:

    1. For the Simulations box, click Browse and select the location where the simulation data (.xml and .dxf files) is available.

    2. For the SVG Output box, click Browse and select the location where the SVG output must be placed. The graphical data of the simulations available in .dxf format is converted to .svg format and is placed at this location.

  4. Click Add. The AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation data source is added to Integration Settings Editor.

  5. Click Save. The AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation configuration is saved.

On account of the change in the product name, the following points must be noted:

  • If you have upgraded the Service to version 2.1 or later, the data sources created for AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation using the 2.0 or earlier versions of the Service are automatically discarded. Therefore, you must create new data sources after the upgrade.

  • If you are connecting from AVEVAEngineering 15.3 to a data source of version 10.2 or 2020 of AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation, the data source name must be "AVEVA PROII". If you use a different name, you cannot connect to the data source.

  • If you are using version 2.1 of the Service and 15.3 of AVEVAEngineering, then you should configure a data source for only one version of AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation. If you configure data sources for multiple versions of AVEVA™ PRO/II Simulation, AVEVAEngineering may not retrieve data from the correct data source.

After you have added a data source for AVEVAEngineering, you can perform tasks such as viewing the schema and retrieving the data for the data source using Integration Client. For information on how to view the simulation data in Integration Client, see View Simulation Data.

Note: You can view the simulation data in Integration Client only after the simulation is published. Incorrect data may be displayed if you try to retrieve the data for a simulation that is not published.
