AVEVA Process Simulation

The data from AVEVA™ Process Simulation can be viewed in AVEVA™ Engineering using AVEVA™ Integration Service (Service). For this, the data for the simulation (available in .simx format) must be saved to a pre-defined location that the Service can access. The Service retrieves the data from this location which can then be viewed in AVEVA™ Engineering.

Important: For successful data transfer, the .simx and .libx files at this location must not be changed in any manner.

Data transfer from AVEVA™ Process Simulation to AVEVA™ Engineering is available from AVEVA™ Process Simulation 3.3 and later and AVEVA™ Engineering 15.1 Fix 5 and later using AVEVA™ Integration Service 1.6 or later.

In addition, AVEVA Gateway for Process Simulation version 1.1 or later must be installed on the computer to transfer graphical data.

Note: The setup needed to transfer the data from AVEVA™ Process Simulation to AVEVA™ Engineering involves AVEVA™ Process Simulation, AVEVA™ Engineering and AVEVA™ Integration Service. Providing information about all these procedures is beyond the scope of this document. This document contains only the procedures to setup a data source in the Service and perform basic tasks using Integration Client. For information about the setup needed in AVEVA™ Process Simulation and AVEVA™ Engineering, refer to the respective user guides.

To configure AVEVA™ Integration Service (Service) for AVEVA™ Process Simulation:

1. Start Integration Settings Editor.

2. From the Select Product list, select AVEVA Process Simulation. The Module Name is displayed as AVEVA Process Simulation.

3. Click Add Configuration. The AVEVA Process Simulation dialog box appears.

   

   Do the following:

   1. For the Simulations box, click Browse and select the location where the simulation data in .simx format is available.

   2. For the SVG Output box, click Browse and select the location where the SVG output must be placed.

4. Click Add. The AVEVA™ Process Simulation configuration is added to Integration Settings Editor.

5. Click Save. The AVEVA™ Process Simulation configuration is saved.

On account of the change in the product name, the following must be noted:

• If you have upgraded the Service to version 2.1 or later, the data sources created for AVEVA™ Process Simulation using the 2.0 or earlier versions of the Service are automatically discarded. Therefore, you must create new data sources after the upgrade.

• If you are connecting from AVEVA™ Engineering 15.3 to a data source of version 4.0 of AVEVA™ Process Simulation, the data source name must be "AVEVA SimCentral". If you use a different name, you cannot connect to the data source.

After you have created a configuration for AVEVA™ Process Simulation, you can perform tasks such as viewing the schema and units of measure for the data source using Integration Client. Note: You can view the simulation data in Integration Client only after a snapshot of the simulation is published in AVEVA™ Process Simulation. Incorrect data may be displayed if you try to retrieve the data for a simulation that is not published.
