Configuring AVEVA P&ID as Client with AVEVA Engineering as Data Source

The following procedure describes how to configure AVEVA™ P&ID to point to AVEVA™ Integration Service (Service) for obtaining data from AVEVAEngineering. This section assumes that you have already installed AVEVA™ P&ID, AVEVAEngineering and AVEVA™ Integration Service.

For information on how to configure AVEVAEngineering as the data source for the Service using Integration Settings Editor, see AVEVA Engineering.

Note: This section describes the procedure for AVEVA™ P&ID 12.2. The steps and the screen shots may vary slightly for the other versions of AVEVA™ P&ID.

To configure AVEVA™ P&ID as client:

  1. Log in to AVEVA™ P&ID.

  2. Open any of the existing drawings.

  3. In the Manage tab, click Launch Reports from the P&ID Reports group.

  4. In the P&ID Reports window, click Preferences and then select Preferences from the menu that is displayed.

  5. On the Options dialog box, click Compare/Update.

  6. In the Actions area, select Service in the list. A dialog box with a message to confirm your choice appears.

  7. Click Yes.

  8. For the Select Source list, select AVEVA Engineering, and then click Login.

  9. On the Select an AVEVA Engineering project dialog box, select the required project, provide the credentials, and then click Connect.

  10. On the Step 1 of 5: Choose mode of operation page, select Create new configuration, and then click Next.

  11. On the Step 2 of 5: Source Element Type page, type a configuration name, and then select the values for the Object Type Mapping, Name Attribute and Unique Attribute lists. The values represent the element types for AVEVAEngineering. Click Next.

  12. On the Step 3 of 5: Destination Element Type page, select the object type for AVEVA™ P&ID in the Object Type list, select the Allow Insertion check box, and then click Next.

  13. On the Step 4 of 5: Define Source Filter(s) page, click Add Filter to add a condition to filter the data received from AVEVAEngineering. Click Next.

  14. On the Step 5 of 5: Define Attribute Mapping(s) page, click Add Mapping to add a mapping to the data.

    Note: You can select the Select All Mappings check box based on your need.

  15. Click Finish. A message is displayed that the configuration is saved successfully.

  16. Click OK.

  17. On the Home tab of the P&ID Reports window, click CompareUpdateLink.

  18. On the Compare/Update tab that opens, select the name of the configuration that you created. The AVEVAEngineering data can now be viewed in AVEVA™ P&ID.
