Notification Service

A notification is a message that is sent by a publisher client to the subscribing clients through AVEVA™ Integration Service (Service). Notification Service is an interface between the Service and other clients for sending, receiving, deleting and updating notifications. Notifications are stored in the local machine where the Service is installed. Any subscriber client can request and receive the notifications through Notification Service.

The following diagram depicts the architecture of Notification Service.

The components of the architecture and their functions are as follows:

• Client: Publishes, views, updates and deletes notifications.

• Notification Service: Establishes communication between the client and the Service.

• AVEVA Integration Service: Subscribes, stores and publishes notifications.

The following diagram depicts the architecture when multiple clients exist.

The client publishes the notification in the form of an object to Notification Service and Notification Service, in turn, publishes it to the Service. The notification is serialized and stored as an encrypted file in the server computer of the Service.

When a new notification is available, the clients are notified, and when requested for notification, the Service sends the notifications to the subscriber client through Notification Service. When a client deletes the notification, the notification is deleted from the server computer of the Service. Whenever a notification is updated by the subscriber client, the update is notified to Notification Service which then updates the notification in the server computer of the Service.

If any notifications are deleted, updated or published when the Service is not running, Notification Service stores these changes until the Service is available. After the Service is available, the changes to the notifications are updated in the server computer of the Service.
