Configure the Map App Global Settings

Configuring a Map app is a three-step process of completing a set of preparatory tasks, configuring global map sources whose data will be shown by the app, and then setting individual Map control properties.

1. Complete a set of preparatory tasks, see Before Configuring the MapApp

   • Set up accounts with the supported map vendors whose data you want to show in your ViewApps.

   • Create user credentials to restrict access to the data shown by specific map vendors.

   • Configure a local map server to save data from your map vendors.

   • Create a set of graphics that will appear on your maps.

2. Configure Map app global settings, see Configure Map Sources

   You must first select your map providers and the types of data you want to be shown on your maps.The provider data can be hosted both on a local or remote map server. During run time, the Map app can display a base map and overlaid data layers. Most providers will require a web server, but other providers offer map tiles that can be stored locally in a shared folder.

   While configuring the map sources of a Map app, you create a set of named layers. Each layer is a range between minimum and maximum zoom percentages. Within layers you place graphics representing your company's assets and assign coordinate locations to them. You drag and drop your geographic graphics onto a map layer.
