Zoom Layers

Zoom layers enable you to define a percentage range between the minimum and maximum zoom levels. This range of zoom percentages defines the boundaries of a zoom layer. A symbol assigned to a zoom layer appears when the map is zoomed within that layer’s zoom percentage range. Conversely, the symbol is hidden when the map view is outside of the percentage range of the zoom layer containing the symbol.

When defining the location of symbols, you also need to specify at which zoom layer the symbols belong. For example, you can define a zoom layer for the United States map that displays a symbol for each state. At the state zoom layer, you can place your city symbols. During run time, users can show specific information by zooming in or out between different zoom layers.

You can specify a layer to be the default zoom layer by right clicking on it and selecting the Set Default option. When configuring locations, symbols are initially placed in the default zoom layer.
