Release Summary

With the release of AVEVA BI Gateway, the following list of new features and enhancements are introduced.

• Data Adapters:

  • BI Gateway now includes a PI System Asset Framework data adapter.

  • BI Gateway now supports additional enhancements for the AVEVA Insight data adapter.

• Enhanced Model Builder user experience.

• Roll-out of resolved issues including performance improvements since the AVEVA BI Gateway 2021 release and/or reported on AVEVA Insight BI Gateway (Cloud offering).

• Browser support: You can now access AVEVA BI Gateway using the Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox browsers.

  To access the AVEVA BI Gateway Model Builder using the Firefox browser, you have to make some changes in the browser settings. For more information, refer to the BI Gateway Installation Guide.

• Upgrade support: Possible to upgrade from Intelligence 2017 Update 1 and AVEVA BI Gateway 2021 to AVEVA BI Gateway 2021 SP1.

• AVEVA BI Gateway Analytics Client 2021.4.2 (OEM version of Tableau Desktop) is bundled along with the installation package.

  Note: AVEVA BI Gateway Dashboard Server can be downloaded from AVEVA Knowledge and Support Center. For more information on the installation process, refer to the Deploy section of the Tableau Help.

• AVEVA BI Gateway Dashboard Server 2021.4.2 supports the following Connectors.

  • Microsoft Analysis Services (MSAS)

  • Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • OData

  • Spatial Data

  • Tableau Data Extracts

  • Text

Limitations for this release:

• Due to the Apache log4j2 vulnerability, only the BI Gateway Dashboard Server 2021.4.2 and later versions are supported.

• The concurrent licensing model for BI Gateway Dashboard Server is available only for the existing Intelligence/BI Gateway customers. For all new installs of BI Gateway, the concurrent licensing model for BI Gateway Dashboard Server is not supported.
