Configuring the AVEVA Enterprise Data Management Connection

You can configure the AVEVA Enterprise Data Management (EDM) data adapter to connect to the EDM Server and retrieve the available eDNA history services.

You must have the EDM client installed on your local computer.

NOTE: It is expected that you are familiar with AVEVA Enterprise Data Management.

Before using the EDM data adapter, note the following:

• EDM uses different terminology for certain items, including “Tag Names” similar to Point IDs. “Metadata” is similar to Point Configuration Information.

• Custom Queries are not supported.

• Tag Groups are not supported.

• SQL Server authentication is not required, all configuration is done in DNASYS.ini.

• The EDM data adapter is compatible with systems containing 25,000 points or less.

To configure the AVEVA Enterprise Data Management connection

1. In the Data Adapter Type box, select AVEVA Enterprise Data Management.

2. In the Data Source Configuration section, do the following:

   

3. Click Load eDNA history services and select the eDNA History Service you want to use with BI Gateway from the list.

4. Click Connect. If the connection succeeds, the Getting schema notification message appears.

5. Click Continue to retrieve the schema from the data source. For more information about retrieving the schema, see Retrieve the schema.

6. Click Done and then click Save.
