Generating the Analytics Client Data Source File

Before generating the files, you must configure the BI Gateway Server name and data source folder name where the generated .tds files will be stored. For more information, see Configuring the Analytics Client Data Source Generator.

The application automatically generates or updates the files every one hour after the application starts, and the first file is generated immediately after the start up. You can also see the last generation time of the data source files. If you move the pointer over the system tray icon, you can view the last action performed by the application.

Every time a new data source file is generated, it automatically overwrites the existing file.

Note: Dashboards that consume an older version of .tds files are not affected by any change to those .tds files.

To generate Analytics Client data source files

• Do any of the following:

  • Right-click the Analytics Client Data Source Generator icon on the system tray, and click Generate.

  • In the Analytics Client Data Source Generator dialog box, click Generate.

The .tds file is generated and stored in the data source folder that you have specified while configuring Analytics Client Data Source Generator.

When a .tds file is being generated, the Analytics Client Data Source Generator icon changes, and the Configure and Generate options on the context menu are unavailable.
