Configure AVEVA Net or AIM connection

Configure an AVEVA Net or AIM connection

  1. Open the cfg_cadviewer.xml.

  2. Go to cadviewer > datastore > AVEVANetorAIM configuration and edit the connectionMode and role.

These parameters for AVEVA Net or AIM appear in the cfg_cadviewer.xml under the dataStore section.

Parameter

Description

enableQuerying

Enable or disable querying tag information from AVEVA Net or AIM.

address

The AVEVA Net or AIM instance address.

portalID (optional)

Name of portal ID if it is configured in AVEVA Net or AIM.

connectionMode

Authentication mode for connecting.

  • anonymous - This mode does not require user credentials. This approach can be used where the user is already connected and logged into the AVEVA Net dashboard. Can be used when connecting to AVEVA Net only.

  • login - The user must supply a username and password to connect. Can be used when connecting to AVEVA Net only. If either username or password is not provided, then AVEVA Net treats the connection mode as anonymous.

  • token - This mode is reserved uniquely to connect to AIM and requires the application to be started with cloud licensing (LAAS).

role

Role configured for the user in AVEVA Net or AIM.

context

Context configured in AVEVA Net or AIM.

username and password

The username and password of the user if the connection mode is login. If either username or password is not provided, then AVEVA Net treats the connection mode as anonymous.

Feedback about connection status

A message appears on screen to inform you of a successful connection.

Successful connection

If the connection is successful, when you launch the application, you will see a Connected message.

Failed to connect

If the connection is not successful, when you launch the application, you will see a Failed to connect message.
