Step 2: Create a private endpoint

Create a private endpoint

  1. Log in to the Microsoft Azure portal with your credentials.

  2. In the search bar, enter 'private endpoints'. The option appears in the dropdown list.

    The Private endpoints page appears.

  3. Select Create. The Create a private endpoint page appears, with the first section called Basics.

  4. Under Project details, enter the name of the required resource group.

  5. Under Instance details, create and enter the name of the private endpoint. The Network Interface Name takes the name previously entered.

  6. Select the correct region.

    Note: Select the same region as the AVEVA BI Gateway tenant exists to avoid network latency. The region should be the same region as the Azure SQL databases. Please note that the region refers to capacity region, and not the Connect/Folder region. For example:

  7. Click the Next : Resource button to advance to the next section.

  8. Under the Resource section, select the option 'connect to an Azure resource by resource ID of alias' as the preferred connection method.

  9. Manually type in 'Azure SQL Databases’ as the target sub-resource.

  10. Even though it is not mandatory, it is recommended to add a request message.

  11. Under the DNS section, select Yes to integrate with private DNS zone.

  12. Leave the default private DNS zone of privatelink.database.windows.net.
