You can map one dimension field to fields from multiple source data items.

Map one dimension field to fields from multiple source data items

  1. Open the AVEVA BI Gateway Model Builder.

  2. Under the Dimensions column, click the dimension to which you want to add a dimension field.

  3. In the Dimension editor in the right pane, click the Edit Edit icon which resembles a gray pencil icon next to Fields. The Fields editor appears.

The Field name column shows the name of the dimension fields.

The Field type column shows the data type of the corresponding dimension fields.

The corresponding columns show the source data items with the source data item fields that you have exposed to the dimension.

For more information, see Select source data items for a dimension.

  4. Under the source data item columns, click the source data item fields to map to the corresponding dimension field.

The left-most source data item column is of the highest priority. For more information about setting the source data item priority, see Select source data items for a dimension.

For each of the dimension fields, you can:

    • Provide a constant value in the source data item field. During the object save and check in, the system verifies whether the dimension field type is compatible with the constant type.

    • Specify the value "Skip" in the source data item field. The system skips the source data item for that field and takes the next highest priority of source data item. If the next highest priority of source data item does not contain a record for the dimension key, then the value is set to "Null". You cannot map a dimension key field that is part of a composite key to "Skip".

    • Map a dimension key field that is part of a composite key to a "Null" or constant value only if at least one of the key fields of the composite key is mapped to a source data item field. You cannot map a dimension key field that is part of a composite key to "Skip".

  5. Click Save.
