AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas 2025 release notes

  • Last UpdatedMay 22, 2026
  • 6 minute read

The AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas 2025 release notes contain information on applicable expectations and limitations, new features and enhancements, deprecated or removed features, fixed and known issues, and documentation included in this release.

Expectations and limitations

The following expectations and limitations should be considered for this release:

  • As of the date of this release, the only supported upgrade path is from 2024 SP1 Patch 1 to 2025—including all hotfixes.

New features and enhancements

The following new features and enhancements were added:

  • AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas was enhanced to support Gas Quality redirection, which allows Controllers to substitute an invalid gas quality (GQ) record with any valid GQ record.

For further information, please refer to the following user documentation sections:

    • "Gas quality (GQ) redirection" in the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas Controller documentation

    • "Gas Quality Row Details: Main tab" in the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas Administrator documentation

  • Errors in gas analysis data as a result of user entry or bad configuration data downloaded to the flow computer can result in inaccurate flow measurement. In order to prevent the download of bad gas analysis data to a flow computer, you can specify and enable setpoint limits on a component-by-component basis. The setpoint limits feature specifies the valid range of data for each component. The system only downloads gasquality records where all components are within the setpoint limits.

If one or more components exceed the limits of their acceptable data range, the system raises an alarm under the Setpoint category regarding the setpoint limit check failure. An Administrator can inhibit these alarms by selecting Inhibit Setpoint Limit Alarms on the Inhibits tab of the gasquality Row Edit dialog.

For more information, refer to the following sections in the in the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas Administrator documentation:

    • Gas quality Row Edit: Setpoint Limits tab

    • Gas quality Row Edit: Inhibits tab

  • The following elements have been added to the Gas Quality object:

    • Carbonyl Sulfide (COS)

    • Mercaptan Sulfur (MERC)

    • Supercompressibility Factor (COMFCT)

    • Unnormalized Mole Total (NTOT)

    • Mole Total (HTOT)

Note: If you want to use a supported protocol to upload or download these elements, manually update the Configurable Gas Load (CGL) template to add these new elements. For information on how to add these elements, please contact AVEVA Customer Support.

  • The Virtual Chromatograph feature allows the System Administrator to configure a virtual gasquality record, where the gas quality composition is defined by upstream gas qualities that share similar properties. The virtual chromatograph record can handle up to 20 different sources. The values for these points are calculated using the flow-weighted average of the chosen upstream gas quality information.

For more information, refer to "Gas Quality Row Edit: Virtual Chromatograph tab" in the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas Administrator documentation.

  • With the release of AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas 2025, you can access the online help files via the AVEVA Help Viewer or the AVEVA Documentation portal (docs.aveva.com).

This release marks the transition of our online help from the AVEVA Help Viewer to the AVEVA Documentation portal, which offers enhanced security, unified product content, faster search functionality, and a modern user experience with customization options.

Future releases will not include or support the AVEVA Help Viewer, but documentation will still be available with the installation media in PDF (user documentation) and HTML (API reference documentation) formats.

To view the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas documentation on the AVEVA Documentation portal, sign in with your AVEVA product-support credentials (the same ones used for the Knowledge and Support Center).

As the AVEVA Documentation portal evolves, previously released versions of the documentation will be available for download as PDFs and HTML zip files. For more information, visit the AVEVA Documentation portal.

  • We have updated the language used in our deliverables to be more consistent and modern.

Fixed issues

The following issues were fixed.

ID

Description

Case–N/A

(Defect–3427839)

This defect fix addresses an issue where database syncs from the RealTime database (RTDB) to the Electronic Flow Measurement (EFM) database in the cloud generated constant deadlock errors.

This defect fix involved updating the "Update the Default RTG.json File" section of the internally provided installer documentation. For more information around installation, please contact AVEVA Customer Support.

Important: As part of this defect fix, a new key—syncOwnedDatasetsOnly—was added to the RTG.json file.

Case–960414852

(Defect–3385769)

This defect fix addresses an issue where a previously captured hourly entry for a manual, host-calculated meter was duplicated after a mode switch.

Case–960441649

(Defect–3467506)

This defect fix addresses an issue where a host-calculated linepack gasmeter indicated that a segment was fresh despite stale input data.

Case–960486716

(Defect–3648353)

This defect fix addresses an issue where realtime2Meas exited abruptly.

Known issues

There are no known issues in this release.
