To refine images by using common image refinement options

  1. On the Block Definitions toolbar, select Pre-Processing.

    The Pre-Processing list expands.

  2. Drag a Refine image block onto the Canvas.

  6. In the Blur box, enter the amount of blurring that you want to add to the images.

You can set this value from 0 to 100. You can also use the slider or the increase button (Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)) and decrease button () on the same row to change the Blur value.

  7. Select the Sharpen checkbox to apply contrast along the edges in the image and remove blurriness.

  8. In the Dilate box, enter the dilation percentage that you want to apply to the images.

Dilation adds pixels to the boundaries of the objects in the image so that they look bigger.

You can set this value from 0 to 100. You can also use the slider or the increase button (Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)) and decrease button () on the same row to change the Dilate value.

  9. In the Erode box, enter the erosion percentage that you want to apply to the images.

Erosion removes pixels on the boundaries of the objects in the image so that they look smaller. Erosion can remove floating pixels, thin lines, and small objects so that only larger objects of interest remain.

You can set this value from 0 to 100. You can also use the slider or the increase button (Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)) and decrease button () on the same row to change the Erode value.

  10. In the Rotate box, enter the number of degrees by which you want to rotate the image counterclockwise.

You can set this value from 0 to 360. You can also use the slider or the increase button (Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)) and decrease button () on the same row to change the Rotate value.

  11. In the Stretch-Compress box, enter a coordinate pair to define the amount that you want to stretch and compress the image, respectively.

  12. Optional: Use the drag button (Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)) to move the rows for the refinement properties up or down in the list.

  13. Select Apply Changes.

The preview image for the block updates on both the Properties side sheet and the Canvas.
