Use the Measure Length block to get measurements of the contour of the object, such as height and width. You can also add measurement conversions.
To measure the length between two given coordinates
-
On the Block Definitions toolbar, select Measurement.
The Measurement list expands.
-
Drag a Measure Length block onto the Canvas.

-
Connect the block to other blocks on the Canvas as needed.
-
Select the Measure Length block on the Canvas.
-
Right-click the block, and then select Properties.

The Properties side sheet appears on the right side of the screen.

-
Optional: Select the expand button (
) to expand the Reference line coordinates area.
This enlarges the images so that you can more easily define the reference line.
You can select the collapse button (
) to return to the previous menu.
-
Optional: On the enlarged image, use the zoom tools to zoom in (
) and out (
) of the image.
-
Select the image twice to create the connection points for the reference line.
The Measure Length block always measures the height or width in relation to the magnitude of the reference line.
-
Optional: Select Clear to delete the defined reference angle and start over.
-
In the Magnitude box, enter the magnitude of the reference line.
For example, if the reference line represents 2 cm, you should set this value to 2.
-
In the Unit box, enter the unit of measure (UOM) that you want to report the length in.
This UOM should match the value that you enter for the Magnitude. For example, if the reference line represents 2 cm, you should set this value to cm.
-
In the Measurement type area, select whether you want to measure Height or Width.
-
Select Apply Changes.
The preview result for the block updates on both the Properties side sheet and the Canvas.
