Instrumentation components

Components (physical parts) added to an instrumentation measurement function represent physical devices that interact with the process variable.

Since these components may generate signals or require terminals for cabling, instrumentation design context is provided for each physical variable and is shown in the following grids:

  • Flow Instruments

  • Level Instruments

  • Pressure Instruments

  • Temperature Instruments

The application displays physical components, such as sensors, transmitters, gauges, and switches, within these grids. This context enables users to correctly assign instruments, which may include:

  • Libraries

  • Wiring rules

  • IO Types

  • Loop

  • Alarms

User expertise is required to determine which of these should be assigned to each component.
