Create a level measurement

Place the Level Instrumentation Function symbol from the Instrumentation – Measurement Functions palette in the P&ID.

A level measurement is typically associated with a vessel or other equipment through a nozzle.

Select the Process Instrument Connection Line from the Lines – Instrumentation symbol palette, and draw a line from the level instrumentation function to the appropriate equipment nozzle.

This connection ensures that the system completes the level measurement definition in the P&ID drawing and populates the properties in the Level Instrumentation Functions grid.
The application now displays additional information in the Process Equipment Properties and Nozzles sub-grids. These read-only grids provide the context required for level instrumentation function design.

(Optional) If you need P&ID to display all the components (physical parts) related to the instrumentation function, add the required components by dragging the appropriate objects from the Instrumentation – Instrument Function Parts palette.

For example, if the sensor needs to be displayed in the P&ID, drag and drop the Level Sensor part and then select the level instrumentation function it belongs to.

The Instrumentation user can now access the relevant parts, which can be viewed in the Level Sensor and Level Transmitter sub-grids and in the level measurement datasheet specification.

The Transmitter column references a level transmitter part. This value is set automatically after you add a Level Transmitter component from the Instrumentation – Instrument Function Parts palette and select the level instrumentation function the item belongs to.

The transmitter information appears in the Transmitter column, as well as the Level Sensor and Level Transmitter sub-grids.
