In Unified Engineering, the actuating function class symbol represents the final control element that modulates fluid flow by adjusting the opening of a flow passage in response to a controller signal. This device is commonly referred to in the industry as a control valve.
Start the actuating function design process on a P&ID by placing control valve symbols at locations where flow modulation is required. These symbols are available in the Control Valves drawing palette. Each symbol is implemented as an object assembly composed of two primary components: the valve body and the actuator.
