PI Data Collection Manager

The host on which PI Data Collection Manager is installed must have the following:

Hardware

  • Processor: Dual-core or greater

  • RAM: 4 GB or greater

Software

  • Microsoft Windows

    • 64-bit system

    • Server class: Windows Server 2016 or later

    • Client class: Windows 10 or 11

  • .NET Framework 4.8

  • Web browser: An HTML5-compliant web browser for access to the PI Data Collection Manager site.

The following browser is supported (in desktop mode only):

    • Google Chrome version 80 or later

  • Port 5672 is available to listen, and Windows firewall rules allow incoming connections: All configuration and instrumentation flow through port 5672. For more information, see Learn about security.

    Related software

A complete workflow for connectors or OMF applications requires the following related software, which can be installed on other hosts:

    • At least one PI Connector that supports PI Data Collection Manager or one OMF application (version 1.0 specification only)

    • At least one instance of PI Connector Relay version 2.x or later for workflow with connectors, version 2.2 or later for workflow with OMF applications

    • Data Archive 2018 SP3 Patch 1 or later

    • PI AF server 2018 SP3 Patch 2 or later

    • PI System Management Tool

    • PI System Explorer

PI Connector Relay

The host on which PI Connector Relay is installed must have the following:

Hardware

  • Processor: Dual-core or greater

  • RAM: 8 GB or greater

  • Disc space: 50 GB minimum recommended

Note: The required disc space may vary depending on the number of connectors and OMF applications flowing data to the relay and the amount of data being buffered.

Software

  • Microsoft Windows

    • 64-bit system

    • Server class: Windows Server 2016 or later

    • Client class: Windows 10 or 11

  • .NET Framework 4.8

  • PI AF Client 2018 SP3 Patch 2 or later (installed as part of the PI Connector Relay setup kit)

  • The HTTPS port configured at relay installation available to listen and Windows firewall rules allow incoming connections: One-time registration of PI Connector Relay from PI Data Collection Manager and OMF application data ingress use this port.

  • Port 5671 available to listen and Windows firewall rules allow incoming connections: Time-series and PI AF data flow through port 5671. This port number is not configurable. For more information, see Security configuration summary.

  • PI Connector Relay version 1.x must not be installed.

Note: Relay version 1.x cannot be upgraded to version 2.x as these versions are not interchangeable.

When a connector is built, it incorporates a communication library for relay version 1.x or 2.x, but not both. Since upgrading a relay with registered connectors from version 1.x to version 2.x would break data communication, relay version 2.x installer will not upgrade a version 1.x installation.

If a version 1.x relay is installed and no longer in use (all connectors have been unregistered), uninstall the version 1.x relay before attempting to install a version 2.x relay. See Uninstall PI Connector Relay.
