If any prerequisite software included in the PI Data Collection Manager setup kit is not already installed, the setup program prompts you to configure the additional software included in the setup kit before installing and configuring PI Data Collection Manager.

  1. Complete pre-installation tasks for PI Data Collection Manager. See Learn about pre-installation tasks.

  2. Log on to a Windows account with administrator privileges.

  3. Double-click the PI Data Collection Manager_<VersionNumber>_.exe file.

  4. In the self-extracting executable window that opens, set the extraction path for the installation files and select OK.

  5. In the setup window, review the installation files and select OK.

  6. In the Welcome to the PI Data Collection Manager Setup window, select OK.

  7. Continue installing other components as needed. The PI Data Collection Manager Setup wizard displays.

  8. Select Next.

  9. Enter an administration port number for hosting the PI Data Collection Manager web service.

This is the port on which you will connect to PI Data Collection Manager to configure connectors and relays.

  10. Select Check Availability. If the port is available, Select Next to continue. For information on finding an available port number, see Identify port numbers.

  11. Select Next. The Windows Service Configuration window opens.

  12. Enter a domain and user name—in the format domain\user_name—and password for the account that will run PI Data Collection Manager.

This user must have read access to any Data Archive and PI AF servers that will be configured in PI Data Collection Manager.

This account is implicitly added to the local PI Connector Administrators group.

  13. Select Validate. If the account and password are correct, the message Valid name and password combination is displayed.

  14. Select Next. The Ready to install PI Data Collection Manager window displays.

  15. Select Install. The Installing PI Data Collection Manager window displays.

  16. Select Next. The Configuration Security window displays.

  17. Optionally, select Add User to provide the current user with access to PI Data Collection Manager.

  18. Optionally, select Add More Users to provide additional users with access to PI Data Collection Manager and any other connector programs installed on the same host.

  19. Select Next.

  20. Select Finish.
