Specify destination settings

You can specify the default destination settings for connectors and OMF applications in your data flow. You can also specify custom destination settings for individual connectors and OMF applications. The destination settings include the database and element path where data is published, and the prefix for point names.
-
If the data flow was previously configured, perform the following steps:
-
In the Routing section, select Edit Routing Configuration.
-
Select the destination that you want to configure.
-
In the Relays column, deselect any relays that are routed to the destination.
-
Select Save Configuration.
-
In the Save Routing and Data Configuration window, select Save Components.
-
Select Edit Routing Configuration again.
-
In the Relays column, select any relays that are routed to the destination.
-
-
Select the Data tab.
-
At the top of the tab, select one of the following:
-
To specify default destination settings, select Default destination settings.
-
To specify destination settings for a connector or an OMF application that is routed to the destination server, select the connector or OMF application name.
-
-
Select Edit Destination Data Settings, and then select Show More Settings.
-
Under Database, select a PI AF database.
-
Under Path, from the hierarchy of PI AF elements, select an element as the parent for connector-created elements.
-
To specify a new root element for an individual connector or OMF application, select Create root element and enter a name for the element.
Caution: Deselecting Create root element (that is, removing the root element) can cause asset collisions.
-
To specify a different prefix for point names from an individual connector or OMF application, select Prefix points and enter a prefix. Note that a period will be added to the end of the prefix when creating points (for example prefix.sinusoid for sinusoid).
Caution: Deselecting Prefix points (that is, removing the point prefix) can cause data-stream collisions.
Connectors and OMF applications produce generic data streams that are unaware of the specific databases or historians where the data is stored. Connectors operating independently can create measurement streams with the same name. The point prefix prevents collision with the data streams in the relay that are sent from the connector.
-
Select Save Destination Data Settings.
-
In the Routing section, select Save Configuration.
-
In the Save Routing and Data Configuration window, select Save Components.
If you previously ran the connector or OMF application and sent data on existing points to any servers, update the historical data with any updated database, element path, and point prefix changes. If you update the PI Point prefix, you must update the tag names. If you skip this step, the relay leaves the points with the old destination settings and creates points with the new settings. Data is not copied from the historical points to the new points.
