Hit, missed, and skipped scans

  • Last UpdatedSep 30, 2022

UniInt logs the percentage of scans that are hit, missed, and skipped for scan-based input points. Scans are defined as follows:

  • Hit scans occur on time.

  • Missed scans occur more than one second after the scheduled scan time.

  • Skipped scans occur one or more scan periods after the scheduled scan time.

For example, if a particular scan class has a period of two seconds and a scan for this class occurs 1.1 seconds after its scheduled time, then one scan has been missed. No scans have been skipped, because the next scan can occur at its scheduled time, 0.9 seconds after the last scan in this case.

For scan classes that have periods of one second or less, scans are considered either hit or skipped. Because every skipped scan is also considered to be a missed scan, the percentage of skipped and missed scans is the same for scan classes with periods of one second or less.
