I/O rate points

I/O rate points monitor the data collection rate of an interface.
An I/O rate point can be configured to receive ten-minute averages of the total number of exceptions per minute that are sent to Data Archive by the interface. A value is considered an exception if it has exceeded the exception limits for a given PI point. Because ten-minute averages are taken, the first average is not written to Data Archive until ten minutes after the interface has started. One I/O rate point can be configured for each copy of the interface that is in use. Some interfaces permit more than one I/O rate point per interface. See the interface user guide for details.
Note: In HOT failover mode, the value of the I/O rate point on a backup interface might be higher than that of the I/O rate on the primary interface. This might happen because the failover primary interface instance switch occurs after values are processed in preparation for sending to PI Data Archive. These values are discarded by the backup interface; however, the I/O rate point value seems to show that the events are being sent to PI Data Archive.
To create I/O rate points using PI ICU, go to the IO Rate tab. To display the averages as events per minute, use a client application such as PI ProcessBook. For detailed information about the I/O rates mechanism, refer to the PI-API Installation Instructions documentation or PI API online help through the OSIsoft Tech Support site.
