Configure the failover shared file location

Interface instances paired for phase 2 UniInt failover both read from and write to a shared folder to communicate status with each other. Configure the location of this file for both interface instances.
Caution: The shared failover file must be associated with a single pair of interface instances.
When configuring failover for redundant data sources, each failover pair must utilize a unique failover file name. See the Failover configuration for redundant data sources section for an architectural diagram. Sharing a failover file between redundant pairs will produce detrimental failover behavior, such as interface thrashing.
-
Create a folder for the shared file.
Note: OSIsoft recommends creating the folder on a machine that is neither the primary nor the backup interface instance machine, to ensure the file remains accessible if either interface node fails. The machine should be a Windows Server platform that has the Server role configured.
-
Set the folder properties to grant read/write access to the user account that runs the interface service.
The folder location is used in PI ICU to create the shared binary file for failover.
