PI Universal Interface UniInt Framework

Convert from phase 1 to phase 2 failover

Phase 1 failover, which relies on the data source, is deprecated. OSIsoft recommends phase 2 failover, which uses a shared file. Convert from phase 1 failover to phase 2 failover. Repeat this task for each interface instance.

Use PI ICU to delete the phase 1 failover points for the UniInt failover pair, as they are no longer needed for phase 2 failover.

  1. Open PI ICU and select the interface instance.

  2. Navigate to UniInt Failover and select the Enable UniInt Failover checkbox and the Phase 2 radio button.

  3. Enter the shared file location in the Synchronization File Path field. Both interface instances must have access to this file location.

Note: Both interface instances must have access to this file location. For more information, see KB article https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/KB/KB00443. Also see KB article https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/KB/KB00444.

  4. If not already created, right-click the tag list and then select Create UFO_State Digital Set on Server ServerName.

  5. Right-click the tag list and select Create all points (UFO Phase 2).

  6. Save the configuration.

  7. Configure and save the settings for the second interface instance using the previous steps, using the interface instance ID of the first interface instance as failover ID number of the second interface instance.

  8. Return to the first interface instance in PI ICU, configure the failover ID number to match the interface instance ID number of the second interface instance, and save.
