PI Universal Interface UniInt Framework

Asset Framework elements and stream configuration

  • Last UpdatedNov 05, 2024
  • 2 minute read

This section shows an example of the PI Asset Framework elements that are created when an interface is configured to communicate with a PIWebAPI endpoint.

Tags are created by the interface on the first successful connection to the OMF endpoint. These tags are then updated by the interface and used to monitor the health and status of the interface.

Examples

This is what the PI AF structure would look like for a host called EnterprisePiServer1 and an interface service called pitopi1.

  • If the endpoint type is PIWebAPI then the DeviceStatus and NextHealthMessageExpected are created as points in PI Server.

  • If the endpoint type is CONNECT, then these two objects become streams in the data store.

  • The names of both PI points or CONNECT streams have the following pattern:

    HostName.ServiceName.DeviceStatus

    and

    HostName.ServiceName.NextHealthMessageExpected

Note: In the example image above, three additional fields _id, _indexPropertyIndexer, and _namePropertyIndexer can be seen. These attributes are used for internal purposes only and can safely be ignored. Additionally, these attributes are created as hidden attributes by default, and viewing of them can be disabled if so desired. Refer to the PI System Explorer User Guide for further instruction, specifically the section on how to disable the viewing of hidden attributes.
