Configuring Key Points

Key points can be added to the simulation to help determine the simulator status. These key points display in the IC and Backtrack summary page and, in Instructor Mode, along the top pane of the GUI. To configure key points, follow the instructions below.

Expand the Points library and select Dynamic Float. Click on the Tank Level Control flowsheet. When prompted, type in TTL1_L.

Right-click TTL1_L and click Edit.

In the Description field, type in Tank Level. Change the Units Type to Leng and set the Internal Units to m.

Repeat these steps to create a total of five points.

Expand the Utilities library and select Miscellaneous Equation. Click on the Tank Level Control flowsheet.

Type in the name KEYPOINTS.
NOTE: The name of the Miscellaneous Equation object MUST be KEYPOINTS.

Right-click on KEYPOINTS and select Edit.

Set the OUT size to 5.

Assign values to the key points as shown in the following image. Click OK to close the dialog box and save the changes.

Note: After loading the new points and object into memory in the next section, you can change to Instructor mode to see the KEYPOINTS display in the GUI. A sample is shown below. The KEYPOINTS also appear in the Snapshot Summary table.
