AVEVA™ Simulation for Triconex™ Systems

Building a Simple Tieback Model

  • Last UpdatedJun 30, 2020

This section is separate from the tank model constructed in the previous section and the associated TriStation PT2 controls. This section is informative but optional. You may proceed to the Snapshots section.

Simple Tieback is useful when validating simple loops in control logic configuration or checkout. Instead of a thermodynamically and physically accurate process model driving control logic, output from simple leadlag or latch blocks feed signals back to the control logic. A simple tieback model connects simple model objects, such as points, motors, valves, and leadlag blocks to the I/O from a control system. The purpose is to validate simple control loops and graphics.

This tutorial explains construction and operation of the simple tieback model in four steps:

  1. Creating model objects such as latch and lead/lag blocks.

  2. Parameterizing the simulation objects with physical quantities.

  3. Connecting the simulation objects.

  4. Operating the flowsheet.

  5. Building custom indicators and widgets as necessary to allow the user to interact with the flowsheet.

This tutorial makes the following assumptions:

  • The DYNSIM user interface is displayed.

  • The Simulation "FirstSim" exists and is the current simulation open.
