Explore the creation of backtracks and the backtrack list.

  1. On the main window, click the Backtrack Summary icon ().

  2. Resume running the simulation by clicking the Resume icon ().

  3. You can configure backtracks to save automatically every minute the simulation runs. The date and time of the computer's file system appears with each backtrack. Backtrack intervals can be configured from DYNSIM through the following menu.

  4. Position the Snapshot Summary window so the Tank Level Control window is visible.

Note: The assumption for the following steps is at least one TRISIM is up and running.

  5. Open valve VTL2 while the model is running. In the Tank Level Control window, double-click the VTL2 object. Open the valve by moving the Command slider to 25.

  6. Click OK to close the dialog box and accept the update.

  7. Observe the Snapshot Summary window. Run the model until four new backtracks are saved (about four minutes of simulation time).

  8. Freeze the simulation by clicking the Freeze icon .

The backtrack will be saved under the default directory path C:\SimSci\DSSnn\Simulations on the TRISIM machine, as Node Name with the "backtrack identifier". Example: when Backtrack 1 is saved, the file name will be "TRINODE01.btk" within folder "backtrack.1". For backtrack 2 it will be "TRINODE01.btk" within folder "backtrack.2".
