Refer to the AVEVA Simulation for Triconex Systems – Installation Guide for installation instructions.
Two configuration options are available to prepare a system for TRISIM installation:
-
In a multi-computer, distributed simulator system, you may use the Activation Manager installer on selected machines when only TRISIM (or SCP or SimSync Engine) engines will be installed on that system. When this option is used, the DYNSIM engines and DYNSIM User Interface will NOT be installed. You may later add version compatible DYNSIM infrastructure and DYNSIM engines if you choose.
Note: That a full DYNSIM infrastructure must be installed on at least one host machine to support communication and simulation time control.
-
Install the DYNSIM infrastructure and select Installation Type Control Emulations as a condition to run TRISIM. This option will install the DYNSIM User Interface with TRISIM specific menus in the DYNSIM user interface as well as all Dynamic Simulation System components including the Activation Manager. If you use this option you do NOT need to separately install Activation Manager.
Note: Although TRISIM 2020 does not require installation of TriStation 1131 v4.x or greater prior to installing TRISIM, it is recommended best practice to install TriStation 1131 first. TriStation 5.0.0 must be installed prior to TRISIM 4.1 or TRISIM 2020 due to a version conflict of Visual Studio 2017 C++ redistributables. You should install the following software in this order: DYNSIM or Activation Manager and TRISIM 4.1 or TRISIM 2020.
TRISIM should be installed on a machine preinstalled with the DYNSIM infrastructure or the DYNSIM Activation Manager. During installation of TRISIM, the installer modifies the config_file.dat to set SHOW_WINDOWS=yes.
This setting is required in order to launch the Triconex Emulator application on a remote machine. If TRISIM is installed prior to DYNSIM (or the Activation Manager) the user must make this change to the config_file.dat. The user can use the DSS Host Configuration Editor to make this change or use a text editor. The file is located in the C:\Simsci\DSSnn\Servers\system where nn refers to the DYNSIM version number.
If the config_file.dat has SHOW_WINDOWS=no then the Triconex Emulator will not launch if the DYNSIM user interface resides on a separate machine. This failure causes a TRISIM engine launch failure with an engine error that resembles the following error message.
