On the Instructor Station Computer in the DYNSIM main window, click the Tools menu and select Update XREF with Foxboro /Triconex I/O. The Cross Reference Update display opens.

-
Select Analog (Includes FDSI) points and Digital (Includes FDSI) points. Select Replace Cross Reference List. Select Insert default process model variables.
-
Engine Name - the Engine Name section includes a list of all engines configured in the simulation. If the simulation includes multiple engines, click the Replace Cross Reference List button for the first engine. For subsequent engines, select the Append new data to existing XREF button.
-
Default Engine - if the simulation includes more than one DYNSIM / DYNSIM-L engine, change the Select Default Engine From List selection as needed.
-
Process Analog / Process Digital Points - typically, both Analog and Digital (Boolean) points are required and the default checkboxes should be selected.
-
Replace / Merge / Append - upon each button selection, Replace, Merge, or Append, the automatic cross reference generation tool creates the "CrossRef.txt" file and populates the cross reference table into a compatible DYNSIM format.
-
The Replace Cross Reference List button deletes the existing cross reference list and replaces it with the selected TRISIM Engine name and default DYNSIM engine name.
-
The Merge new data with existing XREF button compares the selected TRISIM Engine name and the default DYNSIM engine name that already exists with the cross reference contents. With this option only the selected TRISIM Engine is merged. Other configured TRISIM Engines are not compared and remain unchanged.
-
The Append new data to existing XREF button adds the selected TRISIM Engine and the default DYNSIM configuration to the database. It may result in duplicates and should only be used when certain about the current cross reference list contents.
-
-
Default Model Variables - Insert default process model variables populates the selected DYNSIM engine From symbol or To symbol with default values:
-
Analog From Symbol: ZERO (value of 0.0)
-
Analog To Symbol: ANAOUT
-
Digital From Symbol: DIGFALSE (value of 0)
-
Digital To Symbol: DIGOUT
-
-
Click Update. This step extracts the analog and digital I/O points from the Triconex control configuration.
-
Click OK.

Editing the Cross Reference Table

-
On the main window, click the Tools menu and select Cross Reference Table or click the View/Edit X-Ref icon (
). In the Cross Reference Filter dialog box, select OK, located at the bottom of the filter.
