AVEVA™ System Platform

vSphere hardware compatibility

In vSphere, you can select the hardware compatibility setting when creating or modifying a virtual machine. This setting determines which virtual hardware features the VM supports, such as BIOS or UEFI, maximum CPU count, memory configuration, and other characteristics.

When you create a new virtual machine, the New Virtual Machine Wizard prompt you to select a hardware compatibility setting.

  • If you choose a typical configuration, vSphere will use the default hardware compatibility setting.

  • If you select a custom configuration, you can manually choose a hardware compatibility setting.

  • AVEVA recommends that you select the highest compatible VM hardware version for the ESXi host to ensure performance and security. Be sure to validate your selection with the AVEVA Technology Matrix for your version of System Platform.
