Launch EC2 Windows Server instances

  1. Open the EC2 Dashboard.

  2. Click Launch Instance.

  3. Select a Windows Server AMI (Amazon Machine Image).

  4. Select an instance type and confirm that the EC2 instances match System Platform requirements for vCPU, memory, and storage, for example:

    • m7i.4xlarge (Xeon processors with 4:1 ratio of memory to vCPU)

    • c7i.4xlarge (Xeon processors with 2:1 ratio of memory to vCPU)

  5. Configure instance details as follows:

    • Network: Select your VPC.

    • Subnet: Select the applicable subnet. Using the example given in Create private subnets, you would select AVEVA-Private-Subnet-1b.

    • Auto-assign Public IP: Disable.

  6. Add storage as needed.

  7. Add tags, for example Name= AOS 1 + OMI.

  8. Review and launch, selecting an existing key pair or creating a new one.

  9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 to launch the following instances in the second subnet that was not previously selected, for example, AVEVA-Private-Subnet-1a:

    • AOS 1 + OMI

    • AOS2 + OMI

    • MQTT broker

    • Galaxy Repository node

    • Historian node

    • Domain Controller

  10. Repeat steps 1 through 8 to launch the following instances (redundant pair) in AVEVA-Private-Subnet-1b:

    • AOS 1 + OMI

    • AOS2 + OMI
