PI AutoPointSync

Sync Settings per Point dialog box

  • Last UpdatedMar 07, 2023
  • 3 minute read

The Sync Settings command opens the Sync Settings per Point dialog box and populates the Tagname list with the selected PI points from the grid:

Tagname

The Point's 'Sync' Setting and Sync Setting for Each Attribute areas show the per-point synchronization settings for the point that is currently selected in the Tagname box. Changing the Tagname selection causes the contents of these areas to change to the per-point synchronization settings for the new point.

Use the buttons in the Apply Settings To area to change the per-point synchronization settings for the currently selected point in the Tagname box, for all the points in the Tagname list, or for all the points belonging to the current interface.

Point's 'Sync' Setting

When the point selection in the Tagname box is changed, the option buttons in this area are updated to indicate the master synchronization setting for the selected point (the check box in the Sync column of the point's row in the grid on the main window). The master synchronization setting controls whether the point participates in the synchronization. If the setting is No, then the point is not synchronized, regardless of its individual attribute synchronization settings. If the setting is Yes, then the point is synchronized according to its individual attribute synchronization settings.

Changing the option buttons does not immediately update the master synchronization setting of the selected point. You must click one of the Apply Settings To buttons to change the stored settings. If you select the Yes button, the master synchronization setting for all applicable points is set to the enabled state. If you select the No button, the master synchronization setting for all applicable point is set to the disabled state.

Sync Settings for Each Attribute

This area contains a list of check boxes corresponding to each PI attribute that the PI APS Connector for the selected interface can obtain a current value from the data source. When the selection in the Tagname box is changed, the check boxes are updated to indicate the individual attribute synchronization settings for the selected point. If the master synchronization setting for the point is enabled, the individual attribute synchronization settings control whether the corresponding attributes are synchronized for this point.

Changing the states of the check boxes does not immediately update the individual attribute synchronization settings of the selected point. You must click one of the Apply Settings To buttons to cause a change in the stored settings. The check boxes in this area determine the individual attribute synchronization settings that are applied to all applicable points.

Check All

Click Check All to set the check boxes for all PI attributes to the checked state, that is, enable synchronization for all attributes.

Uncheck All

Click Uncheck All to clear the check boxes for all PI attributes to the unchecked state. It disables synchronization for all attributes.

Apply Settings to

The buttons in this area apply the settings in the Point's 'Sync' Setting and Sync Setting for Each Attribute areas to one or more points. If points are selected in the main window grid when this dialog box is opened, then all three buttons are available. If no points are selected when the dialog box is opened, then only the All Interface Pts button is available.

  • This Point

  • The This Point button stores the currently displayed synchronization settings as the per-point synchronization settings for the point currently displayed in the Tagname box.

  • All Selected

  • The All Selected button stores the currently displayed synchronization settings as the per-point synchronization settings for all points contained in the Tagname list.

  • All Interface Pts

  • The All Interface Pts button stores the currently displayed synchronization settings as the per-point synchronization settings for all points belonging to this interface.

Note: This applies to all points belonging to this interface, not just the points currently displayed in the grid on the PI APS Configuration main window, and may take a few minutes to store the new settings.
