The Tag Selection tab allows you to select a subset of new data source tags for available points. Not all PI APS Connectors support this feature (some PI APS Connectors provide connector-specific alternatives). If the PI APS Connector for the selected interface does not support the tag selection feature, this tab is unavailable.
Multiple instances of an interface may be running for the same data source (for example, for performance reasons). In this case, each instance of the interface is separately registered with PI APS, but the PI APS Connector sees the same set of data source tags for each interface instance. When the PI APS Connector looks for new data source tags, it needs some way to decide which tags to treat as available points for the currently selected interface. Tag Selection provides this capability.
If only one interface instance is used, simply select the Use All Tags check box (unless tag selection is needed for other reasons).
If tag selection is needed, clear the Use All Tags check box to enable the other controls on this dialog box. The Interface Tags list contains the conditions that are applied to each new data source tag for the selected interface. The option buttons at the top of the tab select whether the list of conditions selects or excludes tags for the interface. If the Use these tags button is selected, a tag that satisfies any condition in the list is included in the available points for the selected interface. Selecting the Do not use these tags button excludes data source tags that satisfy any condition in the list.
The syntax for the condition expressions on this tab is the same as the condition expressions on the Tag Naming tab. A condition expression can be entered in the Condition box, or you can click Build to open the Condition Builder dialog box (see discussion of this dialog box under the Tag Naming tab). Once you enter a condition expression in the Condition box, click Add to put it in the Interface Tags list.
To edit or delete a condition expression in the list, first click on the condition to select it. Then, click Delete or Edit. The Edit button opens the Edit Condition dialog box.
The Condition box can be edited in this dialog box. Or, click the Build button to open the Connection Builder dialog box to build a replacement expression.
