Installation instructions for PI APS

Note: Do not run PI APS on the PI Server node unless required by a specific PI APS Connector.

PI APS provides several optional features that create Excel workbooks. These features are implemented by calling "automation" interfaces that are part of Excel itself.

Note: Before PI APS can create Excel workbooks, a copy of Excel must be installed on the PI APS node.

Installation of Excel on a PI APS node is not a requirement, but the optional features that create workbooks cannot be used without it.

To install PI APS, run PIAutoPointSync_x_x_x_x_.exe. See Install PI APS.

After running the PI APS installation kit, PI APS needs permission to read and write secured objects in the PI Server and on the local Windows system. The following sections discuss the requirements and methods for granting the necessary permissions.
