PI AutoPointSync (PI APS)

Version 1.2.8.46

Overview

PI AutoPointSync (PI APS) is a tool for synchronizing the PI Server points for an interface or PI COM Connector with the tag definitions on the data source for the interface. PI APS operates in parallel with the interface. Instead of transferring process data, however, PI APS transfers point attribute information or entire point definitions. As data source tag definitions change or are deleted, PI APS can either report them or automatically modify or delete PI points to reflect these changes. In addition, PI APS locates tags on the data source that do not have corresponding PI points and can either report or automatically create them.

PI APS provides many options to configure its operation, such as the types of actions that PI APS is permitted to make automatically. PI APS allows you to configure options for individual PI points, such as whether PI APS is permitted to synchronize the point as a whole and, if so, the specific attributes that it is allowed to change.

To allow auditing of automated point changes, PI APS logs all automated actions and changes for the PI System administrator to review.

PI APS uses the PI SDK for programmatic access to PI points.
