PI AutoPointSync

PI Module Database permissions for PI APS

The PI APS Configuration Utility creates the module AutoPointSync under the %OSI module. PI APS configuration settings are stored in a hierarchy of modules under the AutoPointSync module. Other information also is stored in the modules used by PI APS. For example, the last synchronization time (stored by the PI APS Synchronization Engine) and the SyncImmediately flag (set by the PI APS Synchronization Trigger service or PI APS Configuration Utility) are stored in the AutoPointSync hierarchy.

The PI APS Configuration Utility requires the following:

  • Read and write access for the PIModules table (Database Security) in order to create modules.

  • Read and write access for the %OSI module in order to create the AutoPointSync module.

  • Read and write access for the AutoPointSync hierarchy to register interface instances with PI APS, to change configuration settings, or to manually initiate a synchronization scan. Read access is sufficient to view configuration settings.

The PI APS Synchronization Engine and PI APS Synchronization Trigger service require read and write access for modules in the AutoPointSync hierarchy for normal operation.
