Register
is a shortcut for Register New on the Interface menu that opens the Configure Interface or COM Connector for PI APS dialog box.
Unregister
is a shortcut for Unregister on the Interface menu. This button is only available if a registered interface is selected. See Unregister.
Note: If a registered interface is selected, only one of the Enable and Disable toolbar buttons is available. The dimmed toolbar button indicates the interface's current state.
Enable
is a shortcut for Enable APS for Interface on the Tools menu. See Enable APS for Interface.
Note: Enabling an interface configured for periodic scheduling causes the Sync Engine to perform a synchronization scan at its earliest opportunity.
Disable
is a shortcut for Enable APS for Interface on the Tools menu. This button is only available if a registered interface is selected and it
is presently enabled. See Enable APS for Interface.
Note: If an interface is disabled while a synchronization scan is in progress for it, the Synchronization Engine aborts the synchronization.
SyncNow
requests the PI APS Synchronization Engine to synchronize the selected interface
at the next possible moment. This button is only available if a registered and enabled
interface is selected.
Note: If the Synchronization Engine is actively synchronizing any interface when this button is clicked, the synchronization in progress must complete before synchronization can be started on the selected interface. If the Synchronization Engine is paused at the end of its main scheduling loop, the synchronization does not begin until the pause expires (default 10 seconds). See Synchronization scheduling for related information.
To stop a synchronization scan, click the Disable button. During a synchronization scan, the Synchronization Engine monitors whether the interface is enabled for synchronization. When the Synchronization Engine detects that the interface is no longer enabled, the synchronization scan is immediately terminated.
Note: Re-enabling a periodically-scheduled interface has the side effect of causing an immediate synchronization.
PIPC log
opens the watchlog application to monitor the pipc.log file.
SDK Log
runs pigetmsg –f in a command window to continuously display messages as they are written to the PI
message log.
Help
is a shortcut for Contents on the Help menu.
