- Interfaces
For information on the current version of PI APS, see OSIsoft Customer Portal customer portal.
The same PIAutoPointSync_x_x_x_x_.exe installation kit is used for either an initial installation or upgrading an existing installation of PI APS.
-
Log on as a user with Administrator or Power User privileges, preferably as the same user who originally installed PI APS.
-
If the PI APS Configuration Utility is running, exit from the program.
-
Stop the PI APS Synchronization Engine service.
The most common ways of stopping a service are from the Services tab in Windows Computer Management, or from a command prompt:
-
In the right pane with the Services tab selected, scroll to PI APS Synchronization Engine and click that item to select it. Then click Stop on the Actions menu.
-
To stop the PI APS Synchronization Engine from a command prompt, enter:
net stop piapsengine
After opening Windows Computer Management or a command window, keep it open for use in the following steps.
-
-
Stop the PI APS Synchronization Trigger service:
-
To stop the PI APS Synchronization Trigger service from the Services tab of Windows Computer Management, scroll to PI APS Synchronization Trigger and click on that item to select it. Then click Stop on the Actions menu.
-
To stop the PI APS Synchronization Trigger service from a command prompt, enter:
net stop piapssynctrigger
-
-
Run the installation kit.
Note: Installing a new version of PI APS can also upgrade PI API and PI SDK, which might stop operational interfaces on the computer. If installation stops any interfaces, the interfaces must be manually restarted.
-
Optional: Reconfigure the PI APS Synchronization Engine and PI APS Synchronization Trigger services.
Note: During an upgrade, the installation kit removes the PI APS services and then creates new services. If you changed the configuration of either the PI APS Synchronization Engine or PI APS Synchronization Trigger service (for example, if you changed the account for either service from the default Local System, or changed the startup type to manual), the configuration changes are reset to defaults by the upgrade. You must repeat your configuration changes on the new services.
