Analytics with future data

Use the asset analytics feature in PI AF to fully harness future data by triggering calculations from future PI points and performing analyses using both historical and future PI points. You can use future data in analyses in two ways:

  • Use future data as input to an analysis. Values from future events are used in calculations the same as any other values; however, inputs with future data can affect evaluations for an analysis with event-driven scheduling.

For example, you can compare an actual measured value (like temperature) stored in a historical PI point to its predicted value stored in a future PI point.

  • Use an analysis to produce future data by specifying a future time stamp for the output of an analysis.

For example, you store the result of calculations using both future and historical PI points in a new future PI point.

Current versions of PI Notifications cannot directly trigger PI notifications from future PI points. However, you can generate a PI notification when an anomalous future condition is detected by using an intermediary historical PI point.
