Deleting and decommissioning points

When you delete a point, you lose all data for that point and break any client displays that use the point. After you delete a point, you cannot get it back. If you are unsure about the purpose of a point or about the need for any historical data associated with the point, consider decommissioning the point rather than deleting it.

Note: To delete points, you need read/write access to the PIPOINT table. See Where to set access permissions.
