Interface maintenance

After you install and configure a PI interface, you can typically leave it running indefinitely without any intervention. If you perform software upgrades or security patches, or if the network infrastructure changes, you might need to perform a few basic tasks such as authenticating your interface, configuring a trust, registering the ICU and setting up buffering. Refer to your interface documentation for more information.

Note: Starting with PI Server 2018 SP3, the Random and Ramp Soak interfaces are no longer installed with PI Server. Optionally, you can install them by using separate install kits, the PI Interface for Ramp Soak Simulator Data install kit and the PI Interface for Random Simulator Data kit. For upgrades, older versions of Random and Ramp Soak will remain and continue to retrieve data.

When the install kits are installed and running, the following default points will be created:

  • BA:ACTIVE.1

  • CONC.1

  • BA:LEVEL.1BA:PHASE.1

  • BA:PHASE.1

  • BA:TEMP.1

  • CDEP158

  • CDM158

  • CDT158

  • SINUSOID

  • SINUSOIDU
