Database security access permissions

The Database Security tool lists the resources for which you can configure access and shows the current access permissions for each entry. To change these access permissions, you must have read/write access to the PI database security (PIDBSEC) entry and have write access on the database that you are editing. The PIDBSEC entry controls access to all the entries in the table.

The table also includes the PIPOINT and PIModules entries, which control access to PI points and PI modules respectively. You can further restrict access to points and modules by editing the security directly on the point or module itself.

For example, suppose an identity called PIEngineers has read/write access for a point called TEST_POINT but has read-only access to PIPOINT in the Database Security tool. Users with the PIEngineers identity can view and edit TEST_POINT but cannot edit other points in the server.
